Model Classrooms

Model classrooms represent inquiry-based settings where teachers and children are collaborating together within a workshop framework.

Model Classrooms are learning labs and are an important implementation element for the PCL model. Model classroom teachers agree to intensive coaching and embedded professional learning. They agree to video-taping as a source for professional learning, welcome visitors into their classroom, engage in peer coaching with their colleagues and serve as the lead learners in their school. Visitations to model classrooms provide teachers with a common experience and shared context for discussing specific teaching and learning issues. The in-house development of model classrooms help guard against the wash out effect that happens when teachers try to problem solve on their own after conference attendance.
